The founding partners of Joseph & Cohen are peer review rated AV® Preeminent. Jonathan Joseph has been rated AV® Preeminent for many years. Jonathan Cohen was rated AV® Preeminent in 2013. This distinction represents the highest possible level of legal ability and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell, an independent company responsible for the evaluation of lawyers and law firms nationwide for more than 140 years.   In 2013, Jonathan Joseph was appointed Chair of the Financial Institutions Committee, a standing committee of the California Bar’s Business Law Section.  He has served on the Committee since 2009.

The AV rating is the highest possible rating, assigned to a small fraction of the attorneys in the United States, based on integrity, achievement, and reputation.  AV® and AV® Preeminent are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Ratings fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.
